35 Entered for the BetVictor Hungerford Stakes

Witch Hunter - last year's winner and one of three entries for Richard Hannon - heads the entry list for 2024's £125,000 BetVictor Hungerford Stakes

The 7f Group 2 BetVictor Hungerford Stakes on Saturday 17th August has attracted a total of 35 entries.  The feature race of the day has an increased prize fund of £125,000 in 2024.

Featured amongst the 35 entries revealed today include the winners of the previous two renewals of the race. Last year’s winner, Witch Hunter, is one of three entries for Richard Hannon. Hannon also has Group 3 Jersey Stakes winner, Haatem, and Group 3 Prix de Ris-Orangis winner, Shouldvebeenaring, holding entries. Jumby won the 2022 renewal for Eve Johnson Houghton who has also entered the Wathnan Racing owned Mister Sketch. Wathnan Racing are responsible for five entries of which their Ed Walker trained Royal Ascot Buckingham Palace Stakes winner English Oak features.

The seven-year-old dual Group 1 winner, Kinross, holds an entry for the Ralph Beckett yard alongside stablemate Zoum Zoum. Other notable entries include the Aidan O’Brien trained River Tiber, Romanised Minstrel Stakes Group 2 winner, Poet Master (K.Burke), Group 3 Summer Stakes winner Flora of Bermuda (A.Balding), Fred Darling Stakes winner Folgaria (M.Botti) and Group 1 Falmouth Stakes runner up Jabaara (R.Varian).
