Coral Challow Hurdle Countdown

Coral Challow Hurdle Day: 50 Days To Go

Coral Challow Hurdle Day is only 50 days away - this year the Grade 1 showpiece takes place at Newbury Racecourse on 30th December.

Coral Challow Hurdle Day is 50 days away!

The Coral Challow Hurdle takes place on Saturday 30 December this year and we can’t wait to welcome you! The day offers racing fans the chance to celebrate New Year early with more quality racing including the Grade 1 Challow Novices Hurdle.

The Challow Hurdle was first run in 1971 and has previously been won by top jockeys including Ruby Walsh, AP McCoy and Richard Johnson. Previous winners have included some infamous names such as Denman, Champ, Bravemansgame and Stage Star.

Last year’s winner was the Paul Nicholls’ trained Hermes Allen and last year’s winning jockey, Harry Cobden, has now won the race for 3 years running, signalling that the 2023 G1 race is bound to be a competitive renewal.

The day is perfect for families with plenty of entertainment, including our popular tours and Trips To The Jumps. These are must-dos on racedays if you want to experience getting up close to the action as the horses come over the fence. Perfect for younger racegoers, the day also features the opportunity to meet a retired racehorse courtesy of Greatwood Charity and a variety of crafts. You might even spot a familiar face or two!

Discounted tickets are also available for this, along with luxury hospitality packages.
