Thirteen Confirmed For Group 2 BetVictor Hungerford Stakes

Competitive field gearing up for £125,000 Group 2 BetVictor Hungerford Stakes on Saturday 17th August at Newbury

Following the latest confirmation stage today, thirteen have been confirmed for the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday. With an increased prize fund of £125,000 on offer, the seven-furlong contest is the feature race on BetVictor Hungerford Day with Dizzee Rascal performing after racing.

Amongst those who remain in contention include Ed Walker’s Buckingham Palace Stakes winner, English Oak. Following a fourth-place finish in the Group 2 HKJC World Pool Lennox Stakes, English Oak may step back in grade and line up alongside stablemate and 2023 Dubai Duty Free Cup Stakes winner, Popmaster. English Oak is one of two entered for owners Wathnan Racing who may also run Make Me King.

The previous two winners of the race, Jumby in 2022 trained by Eve Johnson Houghton and the Richard Hannon trained Witch Hunter twelve months ago, both remain in contention. Frankel’s half-brother, Kikkuli, may feature for Harry Charlton while William Haggas has two holding entries, the Hackwood Stakes runner up Lake Forest and John Of Gaunt Stakes winner Tiber Flow.

The action continues following the conclusion of racing on Saturday as Dizzee Rascal takes to the stage.
